In July-August 1957 the Gaucho visits the United States in response to a summons from "well-known philanthropist" John Mayhew, who wishes to award the Gaucho and other world-famous crime-fighters—including Batman and Robin, Superman, the Musketeer, the Legionary, and the Knight and the Squire—charter membership in his newly formed Club of Heroes (WF No. 89: "The Club of Heroes!").
