The former star pitcher of the Metropolis Ravens, ousted from the club because of the poor pitching that resulted from his having been surreptitiously drugged by underworld gamblers, who thwarted by Superman in a despairing attempt to commit suicide, launches a comeback with the Man of Steel’s help that culminates in the salvation of his baseball career, the restoration of his personal dignity, and the arrest of the villainous gamblers, Sammy Brink and his cohort Joe (S No. 23/4, Jul/Aug 1943: “Danger on the Diamond!â€).
